Eddy Leonel Aldana (b. 1995) is a Latine educator and artist whose work examines his family’s place in the Guatemalan diaspora and its connection to how colonialism, male domination, and U.S. intervention have created and maintained a climate for loss, displacement, emigration, and deportation.
Working primarily with photographic processes to document his family, he uses video as an additional storytelling tool to reenact childhood memories, revisit familial experiences, while also critiquing social issues and political histories.
In 2022, he received his MFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and in 2017, he received his BFA from the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University.
He currently resides in Bennington, Vermont where he is the Technical Instructor of Photography at Bennington College.
